One Tag. Two Jobs — EAS + RFID from Source to Store

,

One Tag. Two Jobs. TrustTag EAS + RFID tags: FlexGrip, ET-L084 Combo Tag and ProFusion

Retail loss-prevention and operations teams face the same tension every season: merchandise must stay protected on the sales floor, while inventory must stay visible from factory to checkout. Running two separate tagging programs, one for EAS and one for RFID, adds cost, labor and extra handling steps. Many buyers and channel partners now want a simpler path: EAS RFID tags that do both jobs.

That is the idea behind TrustTag’s One Tag. Two Jobs. approach: EAS loss prevention plus item-level RFID visibility, from source tagging through store operations.

Our answer: hard tags, dual-purpose RFID and source tagging

TrustTag manufactures the hard tags and labels that retailers and source-tagging programs order every day. Three product paths work together:

  • ALL-IN-ONE hard tags: apparel-friendly designs that are easy to apply and remove, with no exposed sharp pin, available in RF (approx. 8.2 MHz) and AM (approx. 58 kHz) versions.
  • Dual-purpose / RFID tags: familiar tag formats with RFID added, so stores can protect and count merchandise with one attachment.
  • Source tagging: sew-in, soft-label and hard-tag programs that apply protection and visibility before goods reach the store, reducing in-store tagging work.

Our focus is the tag itself: an orderable SKU family and source-tagging delivery that work with the EAS systems many retailers already run, with RFID added where it creates value.

Three product lines to know

ProFusion (ET-L086): ALL-IN-ONE efficiency

ProFusion is designed for fast application and removal on apparel. Its pinless ALL-IN-ONE profile, with no exposed sharp pin, helps store teams keep pace during peak receiving. Choose the RF or AM version that matches your existing EAS antennas.

FlexGrip (ET-L090) and ET-L095: same feel, RFID option

FlexGrip (ET-L090) gives buyers a familiar hard-tag feel with a clear upgrade path. When a program needs item-level reads, ET-L095, a larger FlexGrip (ET-L090) designed specifically for RFID, carries the same form into an EAS + RFID version, so stores do not have to switch to a completely different tag body.

Dual-purpose RFID: ET-L084, ET-L095, ET-ST07

For programs that want loss prevention and inventory capture on one attachment, TrustTag offers dual-purpose and RFID options including ET-L084, ET-L095 and the ET-ST07 RFID round tag, plus printable RFID label rolls for encoding at source or in store. Use them where cycle counts, receiving checks or omnichannel stock accuracy call for RFID, without giving up EAS protection. Read more about our EAS and RFID combination tags.

From factory to store

TrustTag Source Tagging flow: factory, apparel manufacturer, store - EAS + RFID ready

Source tagging closes the gap between factory labeling and store readiness. TrustTag supports sew-in, soft-label and hard-tag source programs, so protection and visibility travel with the merchandise from the factory, through the apparel manufacturer, to the store. Since 2004 we have manufactured retail security tags at our Hai Duong, Vietnam factory, for channel partners who need consistent, repeatable SKUs.

Delayed Alarming Ink Cable Lock- A Solution to Stop Grab & Run Theft

, , ,

At present, in retail industry, there are still acts of grab and run theft. Ordinary EAS anti-theft tags have been unable to prevent the behavior of grab and run theft, especially for luxury stores, the behavior of grab and run theft will cause significant economic losses to brand stores.

TrustTag has developed a super strong anti-theft alarm tag in response to this phenomenon, which is specially used to prevent the stealing behavior of grab and run theft in retail stores. Our anti-theft tag is called Delayed Alarming Ink Cable Lock, A Solution to Stop Grab & Run Theft. This ink tag is an anti-theft tag with triple alarm function. The method of use is that after the cable is inserted into the lock hole, the anti-theft tag is locked. After 3 seconds, the red light on the tag will flash once and make a beep sound, and then the tag is activated. During normal use, the green light flashes every 24 seconds. But if someone steals clothes or items with anti-theft tags attached on, when the tag passes through the security gate system at the door, the tag will alarm when it receives the signal, and the security gate system will also alarm. At this time, the delayed alarming ink cable tag will continuously alarm for 2 minutes and flash red light. Then the red light flashes and beeps once every 5 seconds. After another 3 minutes, the tag’s motor will start to cut the ink pack, allowing the ink to flow out and dye it on the clothes or items. If the clerk’s misoperation causes the security tag to alarm, the cable must be unlocked within 5 minutes, otherwise the ink bag will be cut inside the tag, causing the ink to flow out and damage the item. If a thief cuts the cable with a tool, the tag will alarm and the ink inside will burst.

The main purpose of this delayed alarming ink cable lock tag is to prevent thieves from stealing luxury and high-value goods for secondary trading or daily use. After the inner ink of the anti-theft tag is blasted, it will be stained on the product, so that the thief can no longer use or re-sell the stolen product.

Helping Retailers Speed Up the RFID Technology Transition

, , , , ,

TrustTag’s new RFID pin ET-ST09 has evoled enough to help retailers speed the transition in today’s rapidly changing marketplace.

In today’s retail environment, RFID’s applications have never been more important. A number of companies have adopted RFID as a way to control inventories. Modern RFID solutions can reset store economics, lowering costs and boosting revenue. However, the cost of RFID tags can be added to the cost of each product but then the big question is who has to pay for that cost. Should the cost be transferred to consumers or should that be shared between retailers and manufactures? Obviously, the tag cost is huge and it becomes a major barrier for retailers to implement RFID technology.

Now TrustTag’s new RFID pin ET-ST09 has evoled enough to help retailers speed the transition in today’s rapidly changing marketplace. Let’s take a look at it.

TrustTag’s new RFID pin ET-ST09 has evoled enough to help retailers speed the transition in today’s rapidly changing marketplace.

Customers will be suprised to learn that this flexible RFID pin is fit for various security hard tags on the market. It helps eliminate the cost of replacing existing security hard tags in reatil stores and allows retailers to leverage EAS system while investing in RFID with the most competitive cost. ET-ST09 realise one-step application process and the biggest cost barrier will be expected to weigh less as the cost of tags reduced.

Retailers have different needs based on the way they operate in stores. Some retailers must manage large inventories in stores. An enhanced visibility on their products help them improve inventory accuracies and avoid out-of-stock and increase their efficiencies. On the other hand, some retailers have small backstore inventories and every item they receive is put directly on their shelves and available to their customers. Inventory management is not their priority, but they need to focus more on customer shopping experience. Therefore, the enhanced visibility of items in stores is expected to promote retailers’ marketing operations. Depending on the way retailers operate and what their priorities are, retailers have to plan on implementing appropriate applications of RFID technology.

With lowering costs, the technology is now more accessible than before. By providing in-store inventory numbers accurate enough to power buy online, pick up in store, and curbside pickup and to boost agility in responding to supply-chain shocks. It can power contactless-checkout capabilities and unlock new customer experiences to create cross-sell opportunities.

One Ink is enough!

Loss prevention programs need to match or exceed the sophistication of the shoplifter. In some situations, a single EAS tag can do the job. However, if a more aggressive shoplifter is present or the merchandise is expensive and desirable, a higher level of protection is necessary.

Many retailers combine an EAS tag with an ink product for added deterrence. TrustTag ink pins are lightweight, strong and secure.

Our design team developed this single vial ink pin. It is compatible with most AM and RF EAS tags, and it is small and lightweight.

• Visible one ink deterrence
• Smooth or grooved pin available
